Skirt made from recycled jeans.

I made this cute wee skirt from an old pair of jeans, and a duvet cover I picked up in a charity shop. Watch out for pictures using a real life model soon!

Bag for Mum

This linen bag I made for my mum's birthday is made from an old pillowcase and a skirt. It's my first attempt at anything that isn't sewn using straight lines and I'm very proud of it.

Taggie Blanket

This is another baby gift. It took three attempts to get it right though!

Chocolate Strawberry Mint Cake

Ok, I didn't sew this, but I did create it! Delicious it was too.

Practice Patchwork

Here's the doll's quilt I made for my daughter in order to practice quilting. I'm making a playmat for a friend, so wanted a chance to mess up on something less important. This turned out ok though. My two-year-old likes to put her toys to bed underneath it.

Applique!

Another blanket, and I had a go at applique! I wasn't very good, but fleece was a difficult fabric to start with, I think.

Making a Start

I decided that it was pretty rubbish that I'm not able to sew so I've decided to put that right and have a go at learning. Thanks to Mum, I now have a sewing machine. I'm not at all artistic, and I don't have a great deal of patience. I suspect anything I make will have missing stitches, wonky seams and edges that don't match! The blog title came to mind when I was thinking that I really don't have any artistic skills. I think it has a charming irony!

So, here's my first attempt at sewing. A baby blanket as a gift for my friend Tess who is about to give birth to daughter number two. I followed this online tutorial and found it quite easy.
